The study upon which this work was based was published in the Journal of Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education (Vol. 39, Iss. 2,2014) as: Establishing the critical elements that determine authentic assessment by Kevin Ashford-Rowe, Janice Herrington & Christine Brown.
These critical questions might be used to determine an ‘authenticity rating’ (AR) that could assist the educational and assessment designer in the more deliberate integration of authenticity into assessment design. The purpose was to formulate an effective model of task design and assessment.
The study outcomes suggested that it was possible, by identifying and codifying individual elements, to determine the ways in which the authenticity of an individual assessment activity might be enhanced.
